A Spider From Mars Gianni Galassi

“Built in 1989 and designed by Italian architect Franco Palpacelli, the Vigna Murata piezometric tower in Rome was originally meant to be part of a wide compound, called “Scientific Water Park” which, as most projects in my disgraced Country, will never be completed. The tower itself was supposed to have a restaurant and terrace on its top, but it’s actually used as a plain and simple water supply tank.“ ~  Gianni Galassi

Did you know that there’s a conflict in Western Sahara that’s been going on for 40 years? Simon B. Thorpe had refugee soldiers pose as toy soldiers in an attempt to shed light on this largely ignored war.

Homophobia in Russia Mads Nissen

“The image [top image of this post winner of the 2015 World Press Photo of the Year] , was made in the bedroom of Alex [one of the men in the photo]. It’s part of a larger body of work on homophobia in Russia that I started the work in 2013. At one point during my work, I felt that there was something missing. I realized my work is not about politics or religion, nor this new anti-gay law. It’s just about two humans who are in love with each other. Two humans who are attracted to each other regardless of gender. So, I decided to look for pictures of love. This was important, so that the audience could connect with my body of work. In order for them to do that, I needed a picture that worked as a mirror to [the viewer]—the viewer needs a bridge into the work. Often, it’s those intimate moments that create that bridge for the audience to engage more, to see themselves as the persons in the story.” ~  Mads Nissen

Smartflower Pop : All-In-One Solar System That Directs Its Solar Modular Fan Toward The Sun Automatically

You can produce clean energy right in your backyard thanks to Smartflower POP, the world’s first all-in-one solar system. This solar system promises easy installation, a photovoltaic system that can be plug and play just like any other home appliance, it sounds cool, right?

The special construction along with its perfectly synchronized components provide approximately 4,000 kWh per year. This means, this solar system can provide average electricity requirement of a household in the central European region. This device might compete with Tesla Powerwall to bring you renewable energy for better environment and dramatically reduce your power bill.

Smartflower Pop - All in One Solar System

Just like its name suggests, Smartflower Pop can achieve a degree of self-utilization up to 60%, which is a significant numbers compare to rooftop unit that just averages up to 30%. As the sun rises, this device unfolds itself automatically and directs its solar modular fan (18m square surface area) toward the sun to generate electricity for you. You can enjoy hot shower, brew fresh coffee, listen to the radio, all thanks to this solar fan that moves along with the sun throughout the day. This means, this solar system unit starts earlier in order to produce enough electricity that you need, throughout the day, it maintains electricity supply and uses energy from the last sunrays efficiently to cover for your evening electricity needs. After that, Smartflower Pop closes itself to its secure position automatically.

Futuristic Police Heavy Drone Concept by Maciej Frolow

Drones are getting popular by days, these unmanned aerial vehicles can be controlled safely from the ground. They’ve been increasingly used in numbers of civil applications such as firefighting, security work, or policing. Maciej Frolow has a vision how this drone can help police officers to do their works efficiently.

This futuristic Police Heavy Drone Unit is a conceptual surveillance drone for both air and land. It is equipped with smoke/gas grenade launcher and pursuit lights, the rack can be customized to fit any requirements for various situations.

This drone is pure fictional and the design is more to be interesting visually than capable of flying correctly ;) However all the components are exist and a machine of this kind can be manufactured with our existing technology. The drone is 4.2-meter long and 4-meter wide. It gives to the propellers enough size to lift it’s heavy weight. I’m working on a military version of this drone.

3D modeling, texturing, and rendering are done in The Foundry modo 801. Mesh fusion plugin was used for many complex parts. Flares and color correction done in Photoshop CC.
