Spectacular Mandalas Emerge from Hypnotic Colorful Dots by Elspeth McLean

Artist Elspeth McLean (featured previously) is an award winning artist whose innate love of colour and detail evolved into a unique style of painting she describes as “Dotillism”. She creates her intensely colourful and intricate artworks entirely out of dots created with acrylic paint and a paintbrush. Her refined technique has grown and expanded into the vibrant, precise and soul engaging artworks she creates today. For Elspeth, painting dots is a meditative and grounding experience which is so enjoyable she has dedicated her life to it. Through her art she hopes to connect people with their inner child and to bring some vibrancy and joy to their lives.

Since 2006 Elspeth has worked as a free-lance artist selling her wares at markets, designing logo’s, painting murals, exhibiting in local café’s and galleries and creating an extensive internet presence. Follow her on Facebook.

Tsutomu Nihei

Tsutomu Nihei studied architecture at school. After graduated he decided to change a little bit direction and became magaka. So, I choose to show two parts of his work : scenic and portrait/illustration. Both are very important to assimilate his universe. Tsutomu Nihei speaks about structures and roads, big constructions and big destructions. He likes to bring the infinitely tiny in the infinitely large. He likes perspectives.

Nihei studied architecture and went abroad to work one year in New York. After that year, he returned to Japan and decided to become a mangaka. He started at Koudansha’s Afternoon and has been TAKAHASHI Tsutomu’s assistant for a while (working on Jiraishin).

Hayashida Q. was his assistant at one time.
