Paintings by Tanya Shatseva

Tanya Shatseva is a traditional artist (Russia, 1990). Currently resides in Saint Petersburg creating acrylic paintings and illustrations in the genre of meta surrealism.

The majority of my works depict subjects in metaphysical scenes and states of twisted perception. Themes of the tricky human mind and one’s connection with supernatural, as well as literature, cosmology, and biology have always been intriguing and inspirational to me. These obsessions combined with personal esoteric experience led me to create surreal images that visualize ideas of the illusory world. Each piece I paint tells a fairy-tale, based on a true story, and gives breath to new images and ideas. All together my artworks form a never-ending series of dreams.

Miena:  New Work

Miena has been featured previously in Cross Connect.  Miena creates evocative and moody landscapes similar to that of Yutuu Toyoi (of 1040uu fame).  She delicately balances the drawing and the motion together in exactly the right proportion so that you feel that you are in that particular place;  reading a book, having some tea, and feeling the gentle breeze in your hair.

Hyperrealistic Portraits by Yasutomo Oka

Yasutomo Oka was born in the Aichi prefecture, Japan in 1983 and graduated from Tama Art University in 2006. He is so successful in hyperrealism that his paintings can’t be distinguished from photographs. While Oka says there are real-life models for the women he paints, their actual appearance is merely the starting point from which he makes alterations to arrive at the image he wants to create. For more check out his blog and Twitter.
