Minimalism Gets a Diaphanous Spin in this Pale-Perfect Swedish Home

Minimalist design doesn’t come more awe-inspiring than this stylish residence in the Swedish port town of Guldboda.

A project by Ukrainian architect Igor Sirotov, the PS3H House is awash in pale whites, beiges, and ivories, with subtle raw blond wood accents. Large windows fill the home with natural light, while cleverly positioned ethereal glass surfaces add a sense of space by blurring the boundaries between the living room, the kitchen, and the garage.

Scandinavian and Japanese influences flow throughout the luminous, open-plan space, decorated with sleek designer lighting and spare low-height furniture in simple, elegant forms. The kitchen, as well, oozes contemporary refinement, with its clean, minimal lines, warm wooden details, and striking see-through pantry.

A low-to-the-ground bed takes center stage in the dreamily minimalist master bedroom, and the adjoining bathroom honors the pure Japanese aesthetics with cubic toiletware clad in timber.

Li Toyoya:  8-bit Pixel Gif Art

A 36 year old freelance art director in Beijing, Li Toyoya works in the world of pixel art.  The blocky low resolution look of computer games of the 80s and 90s inspires artists today who grew up during that time to recreate it with affection.  Where artists like Yuuta Toyoi adopt this style for gentle landscapes and intimate nature scenes, Li Toyoya instead re-creates the frenetic motion of those old games in colorful abstract compositions that are a pure delight to watch.
