Stunning Scandinavian A-Frame Retreat Awaits Outside Philadelphia
An extension of Philly’s groundbreaking “Invisible Service” Lokal Hotel, this A-frame cabin on the Maurice River welcomes guests in modern Scandinavian surroundings that harmoniously combine polished concrete with warm, honey-colored plywood.
Built from California Redwood, the modernist 1960s property was recently renovated by design duo Chad and Courtney Ludeman and converted into a stylish contemporary retreat for 8, called Lokal A-Frame.
The boutique vacation home enjoys a picturesque rural setting in the woodlands of Dorchester, South Jersey, offering access to a private beach, along with boating, kayaking, and birdwatching opportunities. Complementing the tastefully decorated interiors are delightful amenities such as plush designer linens, a wood-fired hot tub, and a Big Green Egg charcoal grill.

I try and draw inspiration from everything around me, while always accompanied by my furry son & constant companion. Each day, I look to see the beauty in everything and find the things that fuel my imagination. I’m influenced by my deep love of all animals, nature, the great outdoors, and all things imaginary and magical, while always trying to see things from a new perspective. The best ideas can come to you in dreams, either by day or night, and that is where these “dream-inspired designs” are usually born. The designs are like snapshots from my imagination, and always try and portray light and darkness, both literally and figuratively.
