Art Takes Center Stage at Porto’s Torel Avantgarde Hotel
A charming new boutique hotel in the heart of Porto, Torel Avantgarde celebrates Portugal in all its artistic forms. From its eclectic, forward-thinking design to the restaurant’s top-notch food and wines, this place oozes avant-garde flair and sophistication.
Art stands at the forefront of this constellation of spaces and experiences, with each one of the 47 individually designed rooms paying homage to a top name of the 1940s’ avant-garde movement – be it writer, architect, or scientist.
The vibrant Joan Miró room, for instance, is filled with whimsical accents inspired by the works of the Catalan artist, while the refined Coco Chanel chamber has a subtle couture touch, plus a glorious black-tile soaking tub overlooking the Douro River. Frida Kahlo suite, on the other side, is dark and dramatic – dressed in bold colors and prints, and decorated with playful Mexican details.
Equally inspiring, Torel Avantgarde’s public areas include a panoramic outdoor pool, a lovely spa, and a spectacular flower room, which doubles as bar & lounge.
