One of my earliest artistic influences is Ernst Haeckel (1834-1919) Biologist, philosopher, and scientific illustrator. He travelled the world over discovering thousands of new species, documenting them into mind-blowing accuracy & detail. He also coined such useful phrases as “ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny” that I’ve employed on occasion to impress my poor biologist buddies. Though I don’t agree with all of his hypothesis, his masterful skill still reigns king. I’m deeply humbled and grateful for his work which continually inspires me to pursue my dreams of traveling extensively to study nature first hand.
