Drawings by Vanna Bowles Visual artist Vanna Bowles (born 1974), operates within a figurative and surreal aesthetic in which optical effects and reliefs destabilise the boundaries between an image’s surface and the space that surrounds the viewer. My work consists of drawing, sculpture, photography and installation. I operate a figurative and surreal idiom, often using optical effects and reliefs that destabilises the dividing line between the surface of the image and the spectator’s surrounding space.  Like what you see? Installations by Chiharu Shiota Japanese installation artist Chiharu Shiota uses yarn to encase entire rooms in weblike structures. Like much in life, the experience of her work is poetic, suffocating, and yet strangely fragile. Her installations have appeared all over the world. In 2015, she represented Japan at the 56th Venice Bienniale.  A sight, an emotion, creates this wave in the mind, long before it makes words to fit it. —Virginia Woolf See more of her work at her website .
