Installations by Chiharu Shiota

Japanese installation artist Chiharu Shiota uses yarn to encase entire rooms in weblike structures. Like much in life, the experience of her work is poetic, suffocating, and yet strangely fragile. Her installations have appeared all over the world. In 2015, she represented Japan at the 56th Venice Bienniale.

A sight, an emotion, creates this wave in the mind, long before it makes words to fit it. —Virginia Woolf
