Jaeyeol Han: First Expressions

South Korean abstract expressionist painter, Jaeyeol Han (한재열) creates moody portraits with barely discernible features formed from thick gobs of oil paint. His abstract faces hover on blank white linen, separated from body & background viewers are invited to complete the artworks with their imaginations. The titles of all his paintings begin with, “Passersby” as if these are quick impressions of strangers we encounter in passing but will never know their unique histories. | Previous Posts

Roseto 11S Concept Car Design Was Inspired by Freedom Lifestyle

Roseto 11S concept car has been designed for luxury car brand, it’s a vehicle that features badass, artistic, and timeless design. The car design aims to represent American landscape, just like a Ferrari that represents the Tuscan landscape.

At first, Shashank Shreekanth, the designer, wondered how people would react to his design, an American car but with an Italian name. Would it be socially acceptable? Or perhaps it would be better to create global design. There were many questions in his mind when he was trying to solve Roseto’s design mysteries, making him one step further from American style to international design. The result is simple and elegant lines, no complicated surfaces, a compact car design.

In United States of America, the dominant culture is white, middle-class, European descent people. However, mixed cultures is now part of modern American culture. Freedom is something that comes to mind when people talk about this country and one of best ways to enjoy freedom is when you hit the road, feel the wind in your face, feeling so free. That’s why Roseto 11S has been designed with open roof.

Nychos: Exploded-View Ikons

These paintings are from Nychos’ Solo Show, “IKON” @ Jonathan Levine Gallery, NYC until July 23, 2016. Raised in a traditional Viennese hunting family, death & dissection were daily business for Nychos. The proximity to animal viscera had a profound effect on him psychologically & visually - he now explores the theme of dissection in his art, pushing it to playful extremes. Nychos created Rabbit Eye Movement in Vienna to connect & promote a network of international artists. The art space is a multi-purpose platform for artists, acting as a gallery & shop full of unique artist-sourced gear.
