Piercing Asian Eyes - Pauline Gagnon

Pauline Gagnon is an acclaimed French-Canadian Artist who paints with strong Asian influences. Although she focuses mainly on painting today, she has been very versatile in her interest, studying silkscreen, steel sculpture, jewelry and theater in Montreal; and stone sculpture in Italy. As to her painting, after spending two decades in the nonfigurative style, she has adopted the portrait collage as the major genre of her work.

"I have always had a thing for Asia; especially for China and Japan. I remember eating a noodle soup at the Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo at four thirty in the morning or walking under the cherry blossom threes and be perfectly sure to be at exactly the right place at the right time."
