Just recently at 2014 Grammy Awards event, Daft Punk celebrated the ascendancy of electric sound and image as declaration of popular expression. It’s cool and crisp sound, this is the era where digital performers replace human sound with unique, synthesized audio constructs. It’s a sudden clearance moment where Gibson realized how new music has left new artists without an instrument to embrace this new role.
Keeping that in mind, Gibson has released its latest project called Concept 909. It’s a progressive instrument for new musicians who used to play the guitar. Make no mistake, the company claims this is not a guitar, this concept instrument works as a human interface that references a set of learned gestures and responses from another period in our musical evolution. It is both a controller and a generator where you can use in your home, studio, or on stage. The 909’s activators can be programmed to deliver amazing sonic responses while maintaining the tactile qualities of strings and frets.
Designer : Gibson
Concept 909 has been designed with a circle form to express dynamic lifestyle, its proportioning of activator extension, historical references, and its integration with technician’s body. While you have to carry this instrument on-the-go, simply fold the extensions and it becomes as mobile as a wheel. The fundamental layouts of this instrument are circle-based arcs and intersections, an expression in pure geometry.
