After 63 days of gestation, a rare Sand Cat Kitten was born at Israel's Zoological Center Tel Aviv Ramat Gan - Safari. Once plentiful in numbers in the dunes of Israel, the Sand Cat has become extinct in the region. This is Safari Zoo's first successful Sand Cat birth and it is hoped this kitten will join Israel's Sand Cat Breeding Program in order to help reintroduce the species into the wild.
Three weeks ago, the kitten's mother Rotem refused to go into the night chamber at the end of the day. Keepers let her stay outside and the next night she gave birth to a tiny baby in the den in the outdoor enclosure. Keepers first saw the kitten when it poked it's tiny head and looked out from the den.
Maybe, just maybe, if the locals on both sides of the political divide were to stop blowing the country up, then the sand cats wouldn't have vanished from the area...
ReplyDeleteThe species isn't actually endangered, they just don't find this locale to be a very good place to be anymore - they're not wrong, either.
No kidding. I wouldnt want to live in that mess either.
ReplyDeleteamerica blows the country up because we are ignorant of our cultural differences and because we want control of the oil i.e. power. The middle east hates the us because they hate our culture and everything that it stands for. I dont think making an agreement is gonna solve anything, especially since the us is fighting two different terrorist groups, the Taliban of afganistan and al queda, that now resides in pakistan, and are not fighting with stable or political people, the only way to win is to destroy them or to leave, but as part of the UN and NATO, we have kinda a duty to stay in and try to protect the innocent people. I hope that helped anyone who thinks that we can just stop the wars by talking. o and the kittens are amazing i wish i could pet one.
ReplyDelete^ i came here for cats and got a political lecture instead.

ReplyDeleteThey're adorable, yes, but they're near impossible to domesticate. They are highly susceptible to disease and won't last long in any environment but their own.
