Drawings by @Isabel Farfan

Isabel Farfan is a young, Andalusian illustrator based in London. Quite hard to find information about this very talented artist. I managed to discover that Isabel boasts of working with “Submotion Orchestra”, British darlings of fans nu-jazz, downtempo and soul dance. Isabel designed the covers of their albums. See more of artist work on her farfaning tumblr.

Abstract painting by @Andrea Pramuk

Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Andrea received formal art training at LSU, Kansas City Art Institute, the University of Texas at Austin and the SACI program in Florence, Italy. Today, a 2nd career in artist materials fuels her experimental and abstract work in mixed media. Home is in Austin, Texas, the one place that nurtures her holistic and universal approach to making art.

Painting feels as natural to me as breathing. By allowing the light to determine the composition, the sense of space can be ethereal, airy, and soft. Even though I use a simplistic subject matter and color palette, the ideas and spaces are complex and deep.”

Samantha Wall’s Revealing Art

Samantha Wall’s art attempts to document internal emotions.  She believes there is more to internal emotions than can be realized in a painting by facial expressions.  Her latest work, “Let Your Eyes Adjust to the Dark” reveal inner emotions without revealing any specific facial features.  Her beautiful female figures are expressive and alive, revealing and mysterious even though they are created with only ink and pigment. “Let Your Eyes Adjust to the Dark” is at Roq La Rue Gallery in Seattle,WA October 1st - 31st, 2015.  See more of Samantha Wall’s art at beautifuldecay.com.

Opulent Propaganda: The Subterranean Paradise of the Moscow...

Opulent Propaganda: The Subterranean Paradise of the Moscow Metro

For two weeks last year, Canadian photographer David Burdeny spent his nights 200 feet underground, shooting the surreal opulence of the Moscow Metro. With their ornate chandeliers, marble walls, bronze columns, and intricate mosaics, these railway stations have been likened to an “artificial underground sun.” (Aesthetically, they’re as far from the rat-infested purgatory of New York City’s subway system as you could possibly get.)

As far as he knows, Burdeny is the only professional photographer in the world to have been granted permission to extensively shoot these locations emptied of passengers. Now, 20 of his luminous, large-scale photographs are on view in A Bright Future – New Works from Russia at the Jennifer Kostuik Gallery in Vancouver.
