Hyperrealistic Portraits by Yasutomo Oka

Yasutomo Oka was born in the Aichi prefecture, Japan in 1983 and graduated from Tama Art University in 2006. He is so successful in hyperrealism that his paintings can’t be distinguished from photographs. While Oka says there are real-life models for the women he paints, their actual appearance is merely the starting point from which he makes alterations to arrive at the image he wants to create. For more check out his blog and Twitter.

Hyperbolic-Gifs:  Bold Geometric Loops

Hyperbolic-gifs is the identity of a gif artist whose hometown is in Maine and is currently studying to get a Masters Degree in Mathematics in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  Like many generative gif artists Hyperbolic-gifs started making gifs in class as a way to visualize mathematical concepts and became hooked on the motion, the only wrinkle being in the use of ‘MatLab’ to create the gifs instead of the more typically used software ‘Processing’.  These gifs are unique in this genre in their use of bold lines and colors, which gives them the feeling of Op Art.

abandoned-playgrounds: Colin’s Barn - Nestled and left to nature...

abandoned-playgrounds:

Colin’s Barn - Nestled and left to nature in the Cotswold of Wiltshire is the design of an initial hay barn by Colin Stokes. Colin Stokes raised sheep on his farm near Chedglow starting in the 1980′s and sometime after he decided to build a place to store hay and other things. In 1989 his project of a rectangular and normal storage area began but once he started he couldn’t stop. While establishing this 11 year project, Colin Stokes built the creation using dry stone walling techniques, complete with turrets, dovecots and original hand painted stained glass windows.

Villa de Vecchi [The Ghost Mansion] - Felix De Vecchi was a Count and a solider for Italy and in the 1850′s decided to build his dream home for his family.
