Beautiful Illustrations from  John Lehman ( Tumblr link )

I’m John Lehman, a Boston-based artist and high school English teacher. I draw images that stress detail and visual story-telling that hearken back to medieval manuscript illuminations, Buddhist mandala traditions, Art Nouveau, and hopefully suggest a world beyond the edges of the paper. Walter Benjamin and Paul Valery claim, “the time is past in which time did not matter. Modern man no longer works at what cannot be abbreviated.” I aspire to defy their criticism by producing work that refuses abridgment and gestures toward timelessness.
