Tales You Lose was born on Instagram, and is an initiative by Andre Levy, a.k.a. @zhion, a Brazilian illustrator, art director and visual artist based in Frankfurt, Germany.

“We are constantly surrounded by pop figures – in films, in music, comics, and even in gossip magazines. They are sometimes our escape from reality, our fantasies. Coins portray something opposite: the real, the everyday.
This project is about individual expression in opposition to massified thinking, about how our personal passions are more worthy than things that are imposed to us. The paint brings to the faces of kings and presidents borrowed narratives from other famous characters and unleash individual alternative stories.”

Vibrant cities in the painting by Kerdalo

Kerdalo is a contemporary, French painter born in 1962 in Puy-de-Dôme. A graduate of the School of Applied Arts in Paris, he began his career with the comics. Former graphic designer and illustrator, Kerdalo retained a taste for aesthetics and painting since 1996 devoted his time exclusively to painting. His paintings are a hymn to the expression of movement and speed. Driven by the gift of portraying light, the artist creates original works that act as a mirror of our emotions.

Everything that I do, from my nickname to the pictures that I draw, what I always expect is to bring people EMOTIONS.

Sometimes, the picture that I draw can be really simple, but hopefully the story it brings fits some one’s story, or an emotion… so that they can use it to illustrate their feelings (because it’s not easy to find a picture that fits our situation). May be that’s why I can not stand drawing stuffs that don’t bring me emotions anyhow, such as game designing, or wall painting…
