Spanish artist Octavi Navarro makes amazing digital illustrations that he calls “Pixel Art”. He stages little characters in cut decors that remind us of some movie scenes like Wes Anderson’s movies or by reproducing concert’s moments such as the Chvrches’ one.

A.F.A. is A Powered Exoskeleton Suit for Firefighter

After reading a report about a fire in high rise building that killed almost 50 people in Shanghai, Jiazhen Chen decided to create this special project. A.F.A. is a powered exoskeleton suit for firefighters, a 28-story building shouldn’t be a challenge for our modern fire fighting, but unfortunately, there are still many factors that firefighters can’t save those people trapped in the building. Once the area is above the aerial ladder could reach or any elevating platforms, the chance of rescuing those victims drastically reduce to almost zero.

The main objective of this project is to design and develop a helpful tool with new technology with carrying ability and personal mobility to provide an effective fire fighting equipment for the future of 2025.

In order to develop an assisted full body exoskeleton for firefighters, it requires an industrial process. It started with extensive research into high-rise fire and firefighter gear, investigating the process of high-rise rescue process, then continued with brainstorming process of different user scenarios. The result is this futuristic exoskeleton frame which is highly possible to be mass produced with today’s technology. A.F.A would dramatically increase a firefighter’s performance in walking, running, or carrying while putting out fire in high-rise building. It allows firefighter to carry load up to 90kg, the built-in water gun system attached at the arm allows individual act when disconnected from the main hose line.
