Custo-bike!

The MOOBY (a word play on mobility) single-speed bike reimagines the structure of the urban commuter as a paneled, modular system that makes it possible to easily re-skin your ride with personalized graphics. Switch out the side plates to change the color, material and overall look to suite your own unique taste and mood. The hope: that more riders will be drawn to the fashionable style and opt for 2 wheels over 4!

Rescue Seat Concept by Chou Yi-Chun and Chen Kuo-Shu

Rescue Seat concept is redesigned water-rescue equipment that holds the victim into sitting position while waiting for the rescue team. With the traditional ring buoy, victim has to hold-on tight to the ring without any support and the rescue might need more than 24 hours to reach the victim. In this situation, usually victim gets tired of waiting and might not be able to hold the lifebuoy anymore.
Rescue Seat supports the victim’s weight through a rubber band which acts as a seat, it provides secure feeling and handy way to get the victim into the right position to be reached by the rescue team.

Nimbus II: The Indoor Cloud

There is no photo-manipulation involved in this photograph. Dutch artist Berndnaut Smilde has invented a method to form a small cloud in the middle of a room.  It’s a case of now you see it, now you don’t as the cloud does not last more than a few seconds before it dissipates.  Yet caught on camera the effect is startling to say the least.

To produce something so wonderful but fleeting, Smilde has to meticulously plan the event.  The lighting and temperature have to be exactly controlled to create the right conditions for a cloud to form indoors.  Once the conditions are correct Smilde uses a fog machine to spray the room lightly.  Then, as if from nowhere, the cloud appears. Magic!

Believe it or not what you see is just a dress rehearsal.  Next weekend, the platform57 gallery in Den Haag, Netherlands will see Nimbus II created for a live audience.  You can visit their website to see if there are tickets left – however unlikely that may be. We do, however, hope to be able to bring you some photographs of this most ephemeral of installations.

Homemade Plane (16 pics)

One Chinese farmer has spent all his money ($800) and six months of his life to build this plane. He invited hundreds of guests and TV reporters. And he failed. The plane would not take off.
