Hand-Painted Carpets by Jason Seife
Reinventing his favorite eras in Art History, mostly Renaissance, through the mediums and techniques that were not yet discovered or utilized at the time, Miami-based artist, Jason Seife (born 1989) bases his approach on merging tightly rendered images with thick layers of color that create distinctive texture. His newest body of work shows his interest in the geometric pattern of old Persian carpets.

Clayton Shonkwiler: Math Professor, Artist
Clayton Shonkwiler is a Math Professor at Colorado State University. He has no art training, but his mom was an Art History major and his dad was an Architect, so he said that ‘there were always lots of art and architecture books and prints around’. He started making gifs as a way to illustrate something in a research talk, became hooked on the possibilities and now, several years later, he has built a body of elegant and mesmerizing gif work. He is part of a trend that I have been noticing of coder artists that I have written about more at length here

Tenorless: Gorgeous Flowing Motion
Note: The artwork above is edited gif clips of the work of Tenorless. To see the full length and full motion video with sound, visit the Instagram page of Tenorless.
Tenorless recently graduated in New Media from University of North Carolina at Asheville and has become a passionate advocate of the software Touchdesigner, which is a ‘node based visual programming language for real time interactive multimedia content’ that has captured the imagination of many artists due to its ability to create real time moving images like the clips you see above. It is used by EDM artists such as DeadMau5 for their live shows. Tenorless is an artist with a fertile and wide ranging imagination, and with a tool like Touchdesigner in his hands he is able to create beautifully flowing textures and imagery. Seeing such imagery on giant screens backed by EDM music must be quite an experience.
