Alone Together by Aristotle Roufanis
“Alone Together is an ongoing photographic project by Aristotle Roufanis, for which the London-based photographer takes photos of large metropoles in a way that only tiny, individual apartment lights are visible. Hardly recognisable in the dark, some of the world’s most famous metropoles such as London, Paris, Miami and Athens are transformed into sprawling canvases of anonymity, where countless people have decided to make their home but hardly connect to each other. The project takes this phenomenon of social alienation in urban centres as a starting point, and adds a positive, optimistic twist to it.”

Unpacked: Refugee Baggage by Mohamad Hafez and Ahmed Badr
“For UNPACKED: Refugee Baggage Hafez sculpturally re-creates rooms, homes, buildings and landscapes that have suffered the ravages of war. Each is embedded with the voices and stories of real people — from Afghanistan, Congo, Syria, Iraq and Sudan — who have escaped those same rooms and buildings to build a new life in America. Their stories are collected and curated by Badr, who attends Wesleyan University and is himself an Iraqi refugee. Visitors experience short audio clips through headphones and can continue reading the stories online and on exhibit placards.”

Uwe Heine Debrodt: Bizarre Organic Gif Worlds
All of the work of Uwe Heine Debrodt has a surreal, organic and nightmare feeling to it that suggests Dali discovering 3D software. He studies both Chemistry AND Sculpture at the Academy of San Carlos in Mexico City and credits the combination of the two for the unique content of his gif work. “I think it is
because of my chemistry studies…that give the sensation of being a living organism.” He has recently produced a series of eerie tableaux that are highly unified artistically in look, feel and motion. These bizarre worlds feel completely realized, and seem like real places - not that you would ever want to actually go there. Just looking at them is enough.More unique art on Cross Connect Magazine:
