Karl Kopinski was born and raised in Nottingham, England, and has been drawing basically since he was able to hold a pencil.
Karl studied fine art at the university where none of his tutors recognized nor seemed remotely interested in his love of painting. After many failed attempts to get work drawing comic strips for 2000ad, he was spotted and hired to work on Games Workshops new monthly comic. After a couple of years of making next to no money, he moved in-house to work in the Games Workshop Design Studio.
After seven years and far, far too many pictures of space marines, he took the leap into the unknown that is the freelance world and haven’t looked back since.
