Eastwind Is a Rustic Luxe Catskills Escape with Scandinavian Sensibilities

A ‘20s bunk house turned boutique hotel in upstate New York, Eastwind promises a back-to-childhood escape with a luxe Scandinavian flair. Nestled deep in the Catskills Mountains, the property is deliciously design-forward, with tasteful rustic touches and mid-century modern influences enveloped in serene Nordic aesthetics.

Its room styles include both sleek A-frame glamping cabins tucked into the forest as well as smart, beautiful suites designed with writers in mind, and experiences range from skiing and hiking in the nearby mountains to curling up by the fire or relaxing in the oversized barrel hot tub.

Animations by Ondrej Zunka

Ondrej Zunka is a Czech-born motion graphic designer currently living in Melbourne, Australia.

In my second year at university, my friend introduced me to Cinema 4D and I was like – Whoa. You can do this on your computer? – So I started learning the basics of 3D which naturally evolved into moving pictures. By the time I finished my studies I was certain I wanted to have a good time while working and actually create things instead of being the manager of some corporation, wearing suits and wearing pretended importance. And since those two years, I continue to love this work more and more (…)

Japanese Stone Artist Paints Realistic Looking Animals Onto Smooth Rocks

Japanese “stone artist” Akie Nakatas has used her amazing skills to paint realistic animals onto smooth rocks of all shapes and sizes. Akie’s entire collection of detailed animal paintings are available to view on Instagram, Facebook, and her website.  \Thanks Laughing Squid

I Want To Paint The Life, The Living Spirit Of The Being I Feel Inside The Stone-  Akie Nakatas

To me, stones are not simple materials or canvases for painting pictures on. Among all those numerous stones on a river bank, one stone, looking like an animal, catches my eye. When I find a stone, I feel that stone has found me too. Stones have their own intentions, and I consider my encounters with them as cues they give me it’s OK to go ahead and paint what I see on them.
