Théophile “Théo” van Rysselberghe (1862 – 1926) was a Belgian neo-impressionist painter, who played a pivotal role in the European art scene at the turn of the century. His early paintings were influenced by the French Impressionists. Later Van Rysselberghe adopted the pointillist style becoming the leader of the Belgian pointillists until he gave it up in 1904.
