Pencil Note : Notebook and Pencil Case in One for Designers

As a product designer, Chengtao Yi always carries a sketchbook and a pencil wherever he goes. This habit inspired him to design Pencil Note. You can read his explanation below. I always carry a pencil and a notebook for writing and sketching wherever I go. Unlike most of the pen, pencils do not have a clip, which makes it a very annoying user experience. I believe pencil and notebook are made to be together. So, it is almost inevitable for me to design a notebook that has room for a pencil. Pencil Note is a notebook with a simple plastic (PC) cover that can house a standard pencil with almost any kinds. The bulge on the cover provides the room and tightly secures the pencil, it also makes sure the pencil can be easily taken out. The translucent cover created a frosted and vague silhouette of the pencil inside. It almost feels like a health bar in video games, humbly indicating how many times the pencil has been used. He literally paints every kind of subject with a perfect technique and yet paradoxically you don’t need to see his sign to guess the author. Maybe it is about the tweak of humor, the irreverent way he uses Pop culture, his technical degree of mastering the spray, or simply Smug One being naturally himself: from another planet.
