Atmospheric Illustration from Faryn Hughes

Faryn Hughes is an illustrator from Saint Paul, Minnesota who specializes in dreamy and ethereal watercolor works inspired by nature scenes, animal wildlife, fairy tales, and oriental designs. Most of her work is done in a water based medium because of its natural ability to capture the movement and fluidity of a childlike imagination and the complex depth of dreams. She loves designing artwork that creates an encompassing, utopian atmosphere for the viewer while also telling a hidden narrative. Faryn’s previous illustrative projects have been for children’s books, editorial concepts, textiles, and advertisements.

GT Concept Car for AUFEER Design by Arpad Takacs

This GT concept car is Árpád Takács design proposal for AUFEER Design as part as his final MA project. You can read his explanation about this project below.

Gran Turismo in my interpretation is a top level hypercar that you can use for everyday life. These types of cars reflect simplicity and functionality in their form language.

The key element that makes this GT concept different from other concepts is the window cover panels that can slide through the back of the car and can transfer to aerodynamic element. These panels can increase the stability of the vehicle at high speed by simply opening and closing. In the meantime, the front panels are simultaneously moving up and down. The strong visual element on the side of the car not only gives a memorable and iconic vision but also include the rails that the panels can slide on.

The main idea for the movable panels came from the U.S. fighter jets that can fold their wings while they are in the mothership. The final vision has the proportions from Italian cars from the 60’s like the Pininfarina X concept and Ferrari Dino Berlinetta Speciale. Both design where influential to the whole design development.

All in all, my aim was to make a GT car what could be a piece of art inside the house but also can handle the special conditions of racetracks.

KANTON DX35 : Modern Analog Film Development Device

KANTON DX35 – analog film development made easy. Thomas J.Müller has designed a concept device to develop your color films (including black and white) in both 35 and 120mm without the need of a darkroom. It sounds pretty cool, doesn’t it?

Nowadays, developing films at home can be time consuming and highly unreliable in the term of result. Keep in mind that you would need a dark room, a developing tank, and several chemicals that you need to heat in on a stove or sink. It’s not finish yet, that set of tank still needs to be continually agitated to get a good result, very impractical.

KANTON DX35 is a smart device that includes a daylight tank that allows you to put in the exposed film under bright light conditions, the agitation process is automated to make sure a steady developing process.

All chemicals are being heated and monitored without the need for sturdy cables and with a precision of 0,1-degree C. Simply adjust the reel where you put the film, select a setting from the database and wait for those chemicals to reach the desired temperature. Wait for about 15 minutes for the process to finish, you will be prompted with to pour chemicals inside the tank and back into the bottle. Once it’s done, you can wash your film with tap water, take it out of the reel and use the hangers to hang it dry.

After that, you can continue working with your perfectly developed negatives. There’s a small scanner that you can use to digitalize the images for online posts or small printouts. Inside KANTON DX35, there’s a knife that allows for a precise, fast, and easy cutting of the film in order to keep it safe and secure.
