Portal Telemedicine Headset Assists Your Remote Communication with A Doctor

Telemedicine is a process in which a patient can communicate with a doctor online and is becoming increasingly popular as an efficient and convenient method to consult with a medical practitioner.

In a time where worldwide healthcare systems are overburdened and the average family is increasingly stressed on finances and time it makes sense to utilize the convenience of online services. Telemedicine also greatly benefits patients with reduced mobility and those who live in remote locations, however, one factor limits the effectiveness of Telemedicine and that is not having access to basic body vital data. Wearable technology that can measure basic body vital data is abundant in the sports market so it is logical to take the technology from this niche and offer it to a wider social application by integrating it into general healthcare.

During research on standard health check up procedures it was realized that medical practitioners often observe the eyes, which can reveal a multitude of conditions and be an early indicator for health issues, it is an essential element of any check-up.

Portal is a home telemedicine headset that assists your remote communication with a doctor by providing basic body vital data, a detachable user operated camera/stethoscope and an integrated high definition eye camera. The basic body vital data is obtained via an in ear pulse oximetry sensor and tympanic thermometer.

The system is based around a headset format that is the most established wearable technology format, familiar to the widest demographic. It offers conversation privacy, comfort and intuitive operation. Most importantly however it offers access to the wealth of high quality vital data offered by the vascular structure of the ear and is the ideal platform for an eye camera.

Beyond data collected from individual consultations the service would integrate data collected from daily wearable and/or condition specific device plug-ins such as urine or blood sugar measurement devices. This would enable algorithmic processing in data centers to not only improve the potential for detection, warning and diagnosis but also to vastly aid medical research.

A discussion with digital photographer Isabelle Menin by imaginarium SiouxWIRE

Looking at Isabelle Menin’s current work, it isn’t surprising that she worked with paints for a decade before moving into digital photography. Her works integrate multiple images in a visual cornucopia of hyper-natural beauty that avoids the obvious while still being engaging and accessible. There are sharp sparks, soft billows and subtle hints like an e-fit of a half-forgotten dream.
