Red Hot Infrared Men photographed by Nir Arieli

Award winning photographer Nir Arieli takes amazing pictures of men.  Nir is originally from Israel, but now works from New York.  This set of photos is infrared, up close portraits. While color infrared pictures can often be jarring, black and white infrared looks very close to regular black and white photos - there are subtle differences that make details in the photos pop out.  Check out more of Nir Ariel’s excellent work on his Tumblr.

Book Sculptures by Su Blackwell

Su Blackwell born 1975 in Sheffield U.K is an artist working predominantly within the realm of paper. She graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2003 and makes intricate art-works from every-day objects, transforming clothes and books into fantastical three-dimensional forms. Using a scalpel she cuts and glues the pages of books to create miniature dioramas glowing with lights in wood and glass boxes, like Victorian relics found in a museum of intrigue.

Abandoned planes in Bangkok. Some are used by people as make shift housing the rest forgotten on a busy road side and right next to a canal.

Paintings by Afarin Sajedi

Afarin Sajedi was born in 1979 in Shiraz. She came to Tehran to study at the Azad University of Tehran where she got her degree in Graphic Design. Sajedi’s creativity, technique and powerful presentation are sure to ensure her an elevated position in the world of Iranian art. In all her works her women’s faces are highly made up be it in pain or joy to show how she visualizes women when they leave the security of their homes to enter the world outside.

“Women have often told me how much they enjoy using make up because it allows them another face,” Sajedi exclaims in despair.

She confesses that she has been highly influenced by Heinrich Boll’s Clown and by Gustav Klimt. She uses Klimt’s depth of color to vivify the pain of the modern woman in any role she decides to thrust herself into. Red plays an important role in the works of this painter. “It’s an aggressive color,” Sajedi says, “and I love aggressive colors.” Sajedi has participated in four group and four solo exhibitions. She is presently living and working in Tehran. via

Immerse: New Paintings by Ali Cavanaugh

“American artist Ali Cavanaugh was born in St Louis, 1974. Her attention to visual world started when she was 15 months old, after she lost much of her hearing. She learned to depend on body language and lip-reading at very early age. You can easily see her sensitivity to gestures and postures of people around her by looking at her works. She creates her own technique by painting with watercolor on panels made of kaolin clay. She uses her little daughter as her model at her latest works.” - mandalsanat.com

Joel Strong - Satirist Photographer

Joel Strong is a photographer living in NYC. By using forced perspective to place little cutouts of celebrity heads on top of regular people’s bodies, he has created a playful mashup of humans of New York meets US weekly.

Joel’s work has appeared in publications worldwide, been shown in galleries in the US and Europe, and earned him a substantial social media following.

Joel was one of the few artists included in Rolling Stone’s recent article of the 100 best Instagram accounts to follow. On that list, strong ranked just behind Madonna but a few spots ahead of Puff Daddy, which he’s probably a little too proud of. Follow him on @Tumblr and Instagram.  via
