Paintings by David Gremard Romero

David Gremard Romero born 1975 is an Mexican-American artist, currently living in Mexico City, dedicated to the painting and craft of Mexica and Pre-Hispanic spirituality.

The central preoccupation unifying all my work is an engagement with the practice of the old masters, particularly those of the Baroque and Rococo periods. Their perfection of craft, their exploration of narrative modes, and their explicit connection to history and politics are a source of continuing fascination and inspiration to my work. Embedding contemporary iconography and themes in a classical figurative craft, I seek to tease out the hidden relationships and continuities between classical art and current culture.

The Bold and Colourful Art of  Gustavo Rimada

My heart and hand took over. I sketched, I painted till late in the night. Painting on everything from shoes to bags. Within a month I filled a sketchbook full of Elvgren pinups and Olivia paintings. Soon after all that work, I started working at a tattoo shop. The tattoo world inspired my artwork a whole new life and passion. The knowledge and history of the industry was incredible to me.
I have now become what you might say, a workaholic and honestly I can say I love what I do. Wouldn’t trade it for anything. I truly eat, breath and sleep art. I work hard and will continue to do so whatever it may be.
Last but not least I am a devoted father, husband and family man but non the less a passionate artist.

The Fine Art of Marine Debris by Pam Longobardi

Pam Longobardi (b.1958) transforms oceanic marine debris into installations and photographic works. Her artwork involves also painting and addresses the psychological relationship of humans to the natural world. She currently lives and works in Atlanta and is Professor of Art at Georgia State University.

In 2006, after discovering the mountainous piles of plastic debris the ocean was depositing on the remote shores of Hawaii, I began collecting and utilizing this plastic as my primary material in my project called Drifters. Since then, I have made scores of interventions, cleaning beaches and making collections from all over the world, removing thousands of pounds of material from the natural environment and re-situating it within the cultural context for examination.

For me, plastic has come to stand for the heavy hand of human presence in every corner of the globe. It is the symbol of wanton and thoughtless production and consumption, a lazy and greedy sucking up of energy and resources at the cost of all other life on the planet.
