Daily Overview

Our project was inspired, and derives its name, from an idea known as the Overview Effect. This term refers to the sensation astronauts have when given the opportunity to look down and view the Earth as a whole. They have the chance to appreciate our home in its entirety, to reflect on its beauty and its fragility all at once. That’s the cognitive shift that we hope to inspire.

From our line of sight on the earth’s surface, it’s impossible to fully appreciate the beauty and intricacy of the things we’ve constructed, the sheer complexity of the systems we’ve developed, or the devastating impact that we’ve had on our planet. We believe that beholding these forces as they shape our Earth is necessary to make progress in understanding who we are as a species, and what is needed to sustain a safe and healthy planet.

The Weird and Wonderful Art of Jaroslaw Jasnikowski

Currently Jasnikowski is one of the leading developers of fantastic realism in Poland, jogo paintings are in collections all over the world.
Images Jaroslaw Jaśnikowskiego are kind of relationship with the artist’s journey through unknown worlds. By creating a different reality, put it right completely different physics, mocking yourself with gravity or the properties of matter. Although in many places, “Alternate Worlds” Jarka very similar to the reality that we encounter every day, it very quickly see that this apparent similarity is only pillar on which the artist builds his own world. Painting Jaśnikowskiego is also characterized by a love of the author for any kind of fantastic vehicles, machines, as well as a love for Gothic. His paintings are shrouded in dark mystery, creating a unique atmosphere characteristic of the work of this artist.
Currently, Jarek, and his wife, Kate is also a painter, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, live and create in the village Pasiecznik in the foothills of the Jizera.

Robert Longo Continues to Create Amazing Art

Robert Longo’s photorealistic works done in charcoal are intense and gritty, like his previous works. Starting as a sculptor, Longo now does large realistic works in charcoal that are the equal of any sculpture.  See our previous post on Robert Longo’s work. Thanks to Art Wall.

Le Chiese Romaniche a Ravenna Marco Ravasini

The Basilica of San Vitale is a church in Ravenna, Italy and one of the most important examples of early Christian Byzantine art and architecture in Western Europe. The building is styled an “ecclesiastical basilica” in the Roman Catholic Church, though it is not of architectural basilica form. The church is of extreme importance in Byzantine art, as it is the only major church from the period of the Emperor Justinian I to survive virtually intact to the present day.

Men in the Cities Robert Longo

Robert Longo is an American painter and sculptor. Longo became famous in the 1980s for his “Men in the Cities” series, which depicted sharply dressed men writhing in contorted emotion. Although he studied sculpture, drawing remained Longo’s favorite form of self-expression. However, the sculptural influence pervades his drawing technique, as Longo’s “portraits” have a distinctive chiseled line that seems to give the drawings a three-dimensional quality. Longo uses graphite like clay, molding it to create images like the writhing, dancing figures in his seminal “Men in the Cities” series. [via]
