Description

A well-appointed summer house built to comply with rigorous requirements in design and precision of execution. Features state-of-the-art solutions that appear simple and uncluttered. Clean forms and clean lines are consistently pursued throughout. This is a technology-intensive house, a piece of civilized life and order perched atop a rocky headland in the wilds of the Stockholm archipelago.

Open space with high glass walls facing the sea. In stark contrast is the entrance side of the house, comprising a dense, plastered wall in which the only opening is a ceiling-high pivot door, whose latticed surface lets the light seep through.

A few select quality materials are used consistently throughout the house. Light against dark, creating a stark graphic distinctness. Light materials include limestone from Gotland, silvery white ash wood, matte-white painted walls and ceilings. White lacquered steel elements in the interior.

Contact between the interior and exterior is enhanced by disappearing walls of glass, leaving a seamless sweeping view spanning from stone floor to ceiling. The exterior is dark with matte-black plaster, roofing felt, and powder-coated steel.

We also landscaped the surrounding terrain, including an overflow pool set on the outer edge of the stone block, and have drawn up a suggestion for steps down to the bay and docking pier.

X-43A Afterburner Watch for Air Force Pilots

X-43A Afterburner Watch has been designed especially for pilots. Jonathan Ferrer, a watch designer, submitted his latest concept to Tuvie, let’s hear what he has to say.

I’ve designed this X-43A watch for air force pilots. The large 50mm case is large for quick and clear readable time and to be worn in balance with their heavy flight suits. The outer bezel is inspired by the air force jets rear afterburner exhaust that opens and closers during high speed thrusts. I designed this watch to act as the pilot’s vehicle for time and to resemble the air force jet as they recognize them. With the heavy gun-metal case and the sub dials with military numerals similar to the pilots control panel in the cockpit; the watch becomes a familiar tool that they wear in flight.

The name X-43A comes after the world’s fastest jet that traveled in excess of 6,500 mph. It was the only jet to travel at such high supersonic speeds. The purpose of this watch was to resemble a machine that could handle such high velocities, the epitome of speed in the skies. This watch is for those pilots who want to take the experience of flight with them always.

Kayserius Traffic Light Design for Kayseri, Turkey

Kayserius traffic light project was inspired by Kayseri, an industrialized city at the heart of Turkey. This city has enjoyed great economic growth in recent years that leads to great city development and renovation. One of great improvements that’s taking place is the city transportation infrastructure and commissioned by the city, this design studio has designed and developed a modular traffic light concept. Low in maintenance and efficient in production cost, Kayserius is pretty slim and compact as a traffic light, thanks to the internal components that seem perfectly fit together to make a fresh appearance. The modern form of this unit doesn’t steal driver’s attention from the critical part that is the traffic signals. There’s a bottom display that features text to back up the main color signals.
